Frida Kahlo in Mount Dora, FL

I am so grateful to everyone who attended my epic lecture series celebrating the incomparable Frida Kahlo.  Presented in a “Dine and Learn” format at 1921 by Norman Van Aken there was a lunch and dinner option for each part of the series – that’s a total of SIX opportunities to learn about Frida while enjoying a three-course meal in a restaurant filled with works of art.  Of course, all of this took place in one of Florida’s hidden treasures – the charming town of Mount Dora.

The Frida Kahlo lecture series may make an appearance again in the Fall, but in the meantime, I’d like to temporarily close this chapter with my favorite quote from Frida herself…

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world, but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do.  I would imagine her and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me, too.  Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it’s true… I’m here and I’m just as strange as you.”
